Clear Aligner Treatment

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners, sometimes referred to as invisible aligners, are a type of orthodontic treatment that corrects crooked or misaligned teeth. Clear aligners are an alternative to older, more visible and/or fixed orthodontic treatments (braces). They are a virtually invisible and removable alternative to braces, designed with convenience in mind.
Clear aligners are made from a special, transparent plastic/synthetic material, and are custom-designed for a patient. They can be used to treat a variety of cases, including crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, diastema/spacing, open bites, and misaligned primary (baby) teeth.
At Dolphin Dental, Dr. Rao and her associates will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth and teeth alignment prior to providing you with a recommendation pursuant to an initial consultation, which will include a digital scan of your mouth. Should a clear aligner system represent a good potential solution for your case, Dr. Rao and her team will design a custom treatment plan.
After design and fabrication of the clear aligners using digital, 3D technology, the sets of clear aligners are delivered to your dentist at regular intervals of a few weeks. Multiple sets are required as a single aligner can only move (realign) the teeth by a small amount. Each set of aligners will slowly move the teeth into the correct position, according to individual treatment plans. Depending on the patient, treatment can take anywhere from six to twenty-four months, sometimes longer. After treatment is complete, a custom clear retainer is made from a mold of the newly straightened teeth. Retainers should be worn every night while sleeping to ensure malocclusion does not recur over time.
At Dolphin Dental, Dr. Rao and her team will monitor the alignment of your teeth continually, during your regularly scheduled patient visits, and make recommendations if necessary based on the specifics of your case.
